Snapchat has become a daily ritual for many of its users, and like most social media platforms, they’ve made some changes in the way you interact with your account – most notably, how you change your username. If you want to change your Snapchat username but don’t know how to go about it, there are five easy steps that will make the whole process much easier and faster than you might expect. So You Want to Change Your Snapchat Username
Step 1 – Update your username in settings
On your mobile device, head to Settings and click on Snapchat Username. On iOS devices, tap on About and change your username there. If you don’t see a place for changing your username in settings, then move on to step 2. If so, proceed.
Step 2 – Change your handle everywhere else
Once you’ve settled on a new name, it’s time to start letting your friends know. Every time you’re connected with a friend on Snapchat, be sure to send them a ‘friend request’ so they can connect with your new username. This is because when you add someone as a friend, they’ll be notified of any future changes, like if you decide to change your display name again or completely switch over to using an alternative service. Most importantly, don’t forget about Twitter and Instagram!
Step 3 – Get a new email address that matches your new handle
For obvious reasons, you’ll want an email address that matches your new username. If you’re not keen on dropping your current email, try signing up for a new Gmail account and linking it with your existing one. It’s quick and easy—and most importantly, it won’t affect all of your other accounts that have their own unique email addresses (i.e., PayPal). Just don’t forget to change your profile name on sites like Facebook before you switch!

Step 4 – Change your email address on Snapchat
First things first, you need to change your email address on Snapchat. To do so, open your profile and click on manage under snapcodes. Now select change email address and enter a new one of your choice. Remember that you can only change it once, so don’t make any typos!
Step 5 – Get a new phone number with your new email address
Connecting your email account with a new phone number will allow you to associate that new phone number with your Snapchat account. Select Add Phone from within your Settings menu, then select your country, followed by get a new number. There is also an option for existing users who would like a new phone number from within their Settings menu.
A few extra steps if you want a fresh start
First, delete your original account. Once that’s done, you can start a brand new one with your username of choice—and all your followers will follow you automatically! The only downside is that you won’t be able to get back any of your old snaps (all those embarrassing late-night posts are gone forever). If all you want is a fresh start and some new friends, then starting over totally works for you. Consider it a way of starting afresh in life. Who knows?
