Yesterday, Telegram released an update to their Android and iOS clients that adds several new features, including live streaming from other apps, stickers, and GIF search among others. The update also includes fixes to bugs present in the previous version of the application that have been annoying users over the past few months. This marks Telegram’s first major update since the end of October when they changed the messaging format from MTProto to their own encryption protocol dubbed MTProto 2.0. With Telegram’s new Live Streaming feature, users can now broadcast live to large audiences using a mobile device. When people want to watch these videos, they can turn their notifications on for a particular channel, just like they do with any other kind of push notification from Telegram. If you want to try it out for yourself, all you need is
How does the live stream function?
One of Telegram’s biggest selling points is its robust privacy controls. Users can create secret chats that self-destruct after a set amount of time, leave temporary messages that disappear after 24 hours, or use end-to-end encryption by default on their regular chats.
What applications can I go live from?
You can go live from any application that uses a shareable URL, such as a website, mobile game or other app. Check out our Apps Directory to see which apps are compatible with Telegram’s Share feature.
Who do I go live with?
Once you decide to go live, it’s time to pick which of your contacts you want to do a broadcast with. You can add up to 10 people for an intimate conversation or message thousands of people at once by adding a hashtag.
Where can I view my live stream statistics?
To see how many people are watching you, access a channel from any of your bots that is currently broadcasting live. The button will change from Start to Live, letting you know that you’re about to begin streaming. Click on it when you’re ready, and a pop-up will appear with a video preview of what your audience is seeing, as well as statistics such as current viewers, current bitrate and location coordinates. From there, continue broadcasting by clicking on another button in your chat client.

How do people subscribe to my channel?
Getting a lot of people to tune in to your channel is difficult if they don’t know where to find it. First, make sure you have an About section with a link to your profile. Many live-streaming apps (including Facebook) allow you to add an About tab, so be sure to include contact information there. You can also promote your live stream through other social media sites like Facebook, Twitter or Instagram—don’t forget about offline promotions too!
How do people get notified when I go live?
First, you’ll have to decide how you want people to be notified. If you want viewers to sign up for a new Telegram account just to watch your stream, then consider setting up a separate broadcast group where they can subscribe. For extra exposure, consider sharing a link on all of your social media channels.
